I was certainly not quick to the punch on some of this though I wanted to share some Doctor Who Season 7 teasers and news.  I finally caught up on my Doctor Who buzz and found out these exciting things.

I’ve already let you know that Rory and Amy are departing this upcoming season. and they’ve already cast a new companion.  It’s still sad but I guess it’ll be OK.  Steven Moffat has done a great job as showrunner and I’ll place my trust in him.  We have just found out when they are leaving the show.  It’ll happen in the fifth episode of the season and it’s going to go down in a story with the weeping angels.  Moffat himself said so.  Karen Gillan (Amy) has also gone on record saying that she goes down in a kick ass way.  Now I wonder what that’s going to be like?  Amy learns how to kill weeping angels but accidentally gets caught by one trying to save The Doctor?  Amy saves an entire ship or colony or something?  I hope it’ll do justice to their characters. I’ve loved Amy since her debut as a companion.

The seventh season will be split into two parts with the final eight episodes airing in 2013 which happens to coincide with the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who.  Wow, 50 years?  Now that’s impressive.  I’ve only been a fanboy for the last seven and honestly I haven’t watched the older ones yet (although they’re in my netflix queue).  Maybe this year I will as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations.

It also looks like we will indeed be seeing more of Matt Smith as he has no intentions of leaving the show.  He says the show is slated to get bigger and bigger.  He was interviewed at the last convention and you can see the transcript here.

Last but certainly not least is an awesome teaser trailer for season 7 (see below).  From the looks of it we have ourselves another western themed episode(s?).  There are some homages to classic sci-fi (Star Wars).  We’re also getting some great sci-fi guest stars such as Ben Browder (Farscape, Stargate SG-1) and some other UK actors.  I’m getting excited.  Too bad we have to wait until the fall.  Enjoy!
